Bachelor of Laws

This is a four year programme which envisages training and producing legal practitioners, administrators, academics, researchers, legal advisors, political leaders, analysts and other executives.

Entry requirements for Direct Entry

1. Holders of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E“O”level) or equivalent with the pass in approved subjects obtained prior to sitting for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E) or
2. Candidates with at least two principal passes, with a minimum of 4.5 or above (where A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2,E=1, S=0.5, F=0) in approved subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E)

• Candidates must have at least three “O” level credit passes with at least “C” in English language

Entry requirements for foreign candidates

1. Entry requirements for foreign candidates will be equivalent to entry requirements for Tanzanians
2. Where a need arises, aptitude tests will be used to determine eligibility of foreign applicants

• Candidates from countries using 12 years of pre-university education, as well as those with the Kenyan 8-4-4 education system background must undertake a pre-entry programme and pass the set examinations before they can be considered for

 Entry requirements for candidates with Equivalent Qualifications

1. Diploma in Law from an accredited or recognized institution with a pass of

not lower than second class or credit, and an “O” level credit pass of at least C grade in English language

 Entry requirements for Mature Entrants

1. Candidates must be 25 years of age or older in the year in which the application is sought
2. Candidates must have completed form four or its equivalent

• Candidates must demonstrate attendance of extramural classes or residential courses for a total or equivalent of two years, in which recommendation from the college or institutional will be necessary

1. Candidates must pass SAUT mature entry examination
